Huge congratulations on an ASTOUNDING turn-out for UTNIF alumni at this year's NFL National Tournament in Las Vegas. UTNIF alumni Becca Goldstein was this year's national champion and final round winner in US Extemp, and she was joined by Newton South teammate and UTNIF alumnus Alex Tolkin as the national champion in Extemp Commentary. Both students are co-coached by perennial UTNIF guest coach Chris Palmer. UTNIF alum Charlie Metzger of Suncoast finished right behind Becca for the national runner-up in US Extemp.
Congrats continue for Duncanville HS graduating senior, UTNIF alumnus, and new UTNIF staffmember Kevin Eaton, who won the NFL National Championship in the Senate. Congrats also to his coaches, Bruce and Barbara Garner, who go off into retirement on a definite high note!
UTNIF alumnus Harlan Downs-Tepper of Stuyvesant narrowly missed the championship in the NFL House, placing 2nd, and was joined by alum Bryan Campanello of Southlake Carroll placing 3rd. Along with partner Josh Zeffer, UTNIF alumnus Robert Kindman of Durham Academy placed 3rd in Public Forum.
Congrats also to NFL Semi-Finalists Ian Panchevre of Clark HS (USX, 1th place), Justine Lassar of Newton South (Prose), Steven Johanson of the Altamont School (Poetry) Megan Race of North Mecklenburg HS (Impromptu), and Sean Killam of O'Connor HS (Ext Commentary).
